Not sure if this fits your request since it's kind of AU but Ignorance Is Bliss (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/4206984/1/Ignorance-Is-Bliss) by cottonmouth is pretty much exactly the above described scenario. It's part of a 'verse but can be read on its own as well.
