American Gods and Bedtime Stories

Hullo again! First off, thank you guys soo much for finding those fics I was looking for in my last post - you're amazing. I guess you're the go-to people! Anyway, I have two more questions:

1. One of my favourite books is American Gods (Neil Gaiman) and I was wondering if there were any fic where Dean and Sam encounter Shadow. It strikes me that he could really have used a bit of their knowledge, and they would be a bit blown away by his. Really, though, any piece that has the three characters featured would be pretty sweet.

2. Also, the episode "Bedtime Stories" was just awesome - and Dean as the hunter in Little Red Riding Hood was great. I was wondering if there were "Bedtime" codas, or anything that deals with Dean as a fairy-tale hunter at all.

Anyway, thanks again!

If you like American Gods and Supernatural you MUST go read [livejournal.com profile] lyra_wing's Dust in the Wind (http://lyra-wing.livejournal.com/100679.html), like, yesterday.

Oh, Lyra is an *AWESOME* writer, one of my personal favorites. You should read her stuff.

And one of my personal favorite stories of hers is her gender-swap fic Man, I Feel Like A Woman. (http://lyra-wing.livejournal.com/5887.html) Hillarious and so perfectly in character.
Makes up for the fact that we'll probably never have a gender-swap episode. (I'm still holding out for a body-swap episode, though!)

She also has a series of future AU (http://lyra-wing.livejournal.com/85469.html) pieces that I enjoy.

I don't know of any fics that deal with Dean as a fairy-tale hunter but I can help with the codas.

There's six Bedtime Stories codas here. (http://community.livejournal.com/spn_epific/2612.html#Bed)

I haven't read it personally [because I haven't read American Gods yet...] but my two best friends and my mother have read it, and they all loved it.

I really think I should. The two best friends I mentioned won't shut up about Neil Gaiman, so he already comes HEAVILY recommended. Thanks for the additional rec, I'll put it on my list of books to read.

Red by Bigpink (she is on LJ
http://big-pink.livejournal.com/
but that story link didn't seem to work
here's an alternate one
http://web.mac.com/bigpink1/Big_Pink/Tales.html for a pdf

or there is an ff dot net one)

The emphasis here is on the Red Riding Hood story -summary: Something evil is killing treeplanters in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, possibly the same predator that Dean narrowly escaped years before. How Grimm will things get before the brothers figure it out? COMPLETE

So not really in Dean being the Woodsman, although he does cut down trees. Multiple time frame. It is a great story. Gen. Casefile

Well, really, in that case, read everything by BigPink - all gen - they're great and long and plotty and angsty.
