Military Sam and Explanation for Leaving Dean in Purgatory Fics

I'm looking for two types of fics, please:  1. Fics where Sam goes to join the military. Something like beckal00by's Marine!Verse.  2. Any type of fic which explains why Sam didn't look for Dean. Could be because of cancer, disease, coma, or something else (maybe not health related, but something that prevents Sam from searching for Dean like he WANTS to do). I just want some Poor!Sam! Only wincest or gen, please. Thanks so much!!!

Shattered by dragonflybeach. AU version of the events of the year between Season 7 and Season 8. Sam angst. Sam/Jody.
Summary: Sam didn't look for Dean the year they were apart. He didn't know he was supposed to.
