1. Fics where Jensen gets jealous/insecure/sad (any of them work) when Jared gets close to another person? Or during a sex scene? Maybe he feels like Jared is replacing him? I would like a happy ending but it's not a necessity.

Misha (also 16) is still adjusting to the splitting up of his family during his parents divorce, and doesn’t know quite what to make of this sullen stranger. Though Misha, his mother, and his friends try their best to welcome Jared into their circle, Jared’s unhappy past make it impossible for him to imagine trusting anyone ever again.
This is a gen friendship fic between Misha and Jared. It's heartbreaking and amazing.
And I'll ask now. You said you don't want Cockles fics. Are you okay with Mishalecki? Or do you just want J2 or gen fics with Misha in a main role?

- Jared's been doing this great white wereshark gig for twelve years, his whole, sad life guided by two basic principles: 1) The shark's stupid and 2) The shark needs to be contained. These principles have led to the creation of Jared's systems, which include things like 'reduce stress' and 'do not invite chaos.' But that's before Misha-the-shark-scientist tags shark-Jared for research and confuses human-Jared for a poacher. With Misha disrupting his carefully ordered existence, Jared struggles to hide the truth ... and to keep himself from reenacting Jaws.
I love this fic. It's funny but also treats the wereshark problem seriously and shows the difficulties Jared experiences, as well as developing the Mishalecki relationship in a realistic way. It's Jared's POV but Misha is a main character.

- Jared is a magical squid, the last surviving member of a species now extinct due to marine pollution. Misha gets caught in a storm on a kayaking trip and almost drowns. Jared rescues him and, much to Misha's surprise, takes human form to communicate with him. The two become friends, but Misha can't stop worrying that Jared will die too, and he's only in the area for work.
This is sweet and a little sad (but with a happy ending). Misha's POV.

My favourite is Trading All The Wasted Times (http://users.livejournal.com/_mournthewicked/370628.html) Jared Padalecki could easily categorize his life by movie genre. His teen years were the offbeat comedy that found him floundering through a gay crisis and crushing on his straight best friend, followed by the indie drama that started with said friend moving away after graduation. His ensuing existential crisis culminated in him dropping out of college and moving out to L.A. on a whim. He wasn't expecting to cross paths with Jensen again, but that’s what sends his life veering into romantic comedy territory. Because it’s not Jensen that he wants anymore. It’s Misha, Jensen's eccentric and gorgeous yoga instructor roommate, that just might end up being Jared’s happy ending.

Otherwise, if you want J2 with Misha as a strong character, one of my favourite all time stories has Misha as the go-between for the boys, and Jared's best friend.

Jared could be drawn to Jensen, in the sharp suit and the perfect smile ... if it weren't because he may already be falling for someone he has never met.
