A whole lotta Dean, my birthday wishlist

I'm gonna turn 20 tomorrow, and I thought I might celebrate leaving my teen years behind with a bunch of Dean fics. Hopefully, I'll be lucky and get lots of recs :) Some of these are actually regurgitated versions of my old searches, but I wanna see if I can get new fics outta them.

1. Smart!Dean is canon to me, and I love reading fics that have this. School fics would be awesome - high school or college, I don't mind either way - but this sort of fic can be set whenever and wherever.

2. Considering up top, I have a hankering for Destiel fics where Dean is practically cliche. You know the type - smart, popular, awesome, kind... an amazing older brother. I only ask that he's not an asshole, since popular!Dean is sometimes written as that.

3. Fics that basically have the world finding out just how important to the grand scheme of things Dean is - and I'm talking Messianic connotations here. Fics that grounds in the fact that a whole lotta extraordinary things (even by hunter standards) seem to revolve around this BAMF. Outsider POVs are loved.

4. Related to #3 - any fics out there that deals with how the supernatural world views Dean. Like how his soul was shining brightly even when the Pit, or how some angels consider Dean damn near holy.

5. Stories where Castiel, through his own ignorance to social norms or maybe a lack of faith in Dean's own commitment, cheats on him. AU or canon, I just wanna read fics where Dean is the one who wants to commit, and Cas is the one who screws up. Happy endings, though I want to read guilty!Cas and hurt!Dean.

6. Rockstar or celebrity AUs where Dean defies stereotype. Destiel please.

7. Girl!Dean fics are loved. Especially irresistible, totally aware of her own hotness girl!Dean. I would really prefer Destiel, but this is also the only way I'll read Wincest, so I'll accept those too.

8. Chef!Dean, or maybe baker!Dean. IDK, just want to read fics with him like this.

9. Michael!Dean? Not fics where Dean says yes to Michael, but fics where he was Michael all this time. Oh, since I'm on this anyway, any fics out there where Dean is actually God or something, or his vessel.

10. This one is the orange in a bushel of apples - I'd love to read fics where Dean has both younger brothers with him. Like, it can be from Adam's POV, or even just fics where he has a brotherly relationship with Dean.

** If there's a pairing, Destiel is my OTP ^^ No Wincest recs please, except for #7.

Whew! That was a lot, and I don't know if I'll get any bites, but I can hope! So please, make this birthday girl's wishes come true, and rec me some Dean fics! :)

Yes, yes I have. But in this case, I'm just hoping we have the same tastes ergo, have read the same things. I don't want to think I really have sucked the SPN well dry, coz that'll be sad, yes? You've been pretty awesome linking me so much stuff though! I feel like I should definitely return the favor, so if you have any searches you want to do too, just say it and I'll try to rec some stuff too *grins*

And no cigar, my friend... on the first one that is. I have read the first one so many times, since it's rec'd all the time for smart!dean. The 2nd one, I haven't read yet, but I have it seen already simply because its a FaithDaria work, and I've read a ton of those... Thanks :)

Sky Verse, right. One of these days I'll refer to things by actual names other people refer to them as, and not just "you know, the thingy with the square" but today is not that day. (Let's be honest, tomorrow and the next decade don't look good either.)

Aw, it's my pleasure. I didn't start watching the show until S5 (and therefore didn't enter fandom until then either), and this site was so good about helping me find things in the beginning so I like to return the favor ~~whenever I remember~~ when I can. Well, so far you've had excellent taste in what you've read and your requests, so maybe we just have the same taste. ;)

And ok, all of that said I will totally take shameless advantage of your offer; I asked for this recently but what I really want are some HS/college/grown-upAUs that take into account the Adam storyline. Like, that have Adam as a half-brother they learn about or already know, that is raised with them or not, etc. It doesn't even have to be the main story point, I am desperate.

[Also have you ever heard of any Rufus/Ellen/Bobby - or Rufus/Ellen or Rufus/Bobby and it can be gen for all I care - or Zachariah/anyone? Because the former I've been searching for for forever (I get three points for using "for" three times in a row, and forever so does count) and the latter I'm just super curious about since I've only come across one Z/Dean drabble.]

Ok, *fist pump* I'm taking credit for #2 even if you're familiar with the author already. Whatever this is so my accomplishment for the day, considering I have maybe 100 new words written and everything IRL was a flop.

I also came across two more for ya; if you squint for #1: The Way the War was Won (http://archiveofourown.org/works/543844/chapters/967364) (I mean, Dean's smart in it, at least, and I think it mentions something about that, and seriously it's a good story anyways esp if you like rageprufrock which I already know you do and whatever just read it) and #2 (with touches of #1): Law of Occam's Razor (http://archiveofourown.org/works/545148/chapters/970105) - both by deans1911 (partialdifferential), both Destiel, both good, both WIPS because FML

Don't sweat it, I'm like that way too. It's the reason I can never make a reclist - I can't keep my fics organized at all, and when I try to find a fic I want to rec or read again, it's so hard since I remember them by particular scenes or lines or hell - feelings.

And wow, I beat you by just one season. Only started watching when season 4 started, since everything before that felt like The Sam Show. Not to say anything bad about that, he's just not my favorite person on the show, and I hated how a lot of things happened to build his character up, but all at Dean's expense (who is BAMF no matter what, especially because of his freckles and ~~pretty~~ manly tears). Which is why I'm so happy the SPN fandom is so giving, so I can take out all my frustrations about how the show is going here >.< and meet people with similar tastes *grins*

Adam fics! Do we share the same brain?! I posted this (http://spnstoryfinders.livejournal.com/8313860.html) just a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, those are all the bites I got -_- Most fics that actually do mention Adam - that I know about and have read - are either Michael/Adam, non-canon compliant or complete AUs. Since I'm not really a fan of Midam, I don't read those ergo, have been stuck with the latter two to find my fics. I can probably rec you this single Midam fic (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8382061/1/And-The-Angel-Said-Be-Not-Afraid) that I actually read and sorta follows canon up to a point (be warned, its whole point is mpreg). The author likes Adam (so yey) but she likes him with Michael, so I never really read her fics coz... yeah ^^ If you like that pairing though, I don't think you'll have a lot of problem finding more fics - good luck :)

Since this is a pretty lost post already, I'm gonna give you this one other Adam rec, even though it doesn't really fit what you're asking for... Wolverines, Wendigos and Winchesters (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5155714/87/Wolverines-Wendigos-and-Winchesters) by SciFiNutX. It's non-canon compliant (obviously) and I never actually finished it, since its so effing long and was kinda not happening like I hoped it would, but it had one thing I very much liked - an adorable relationship between Dean and Adam (at least, it was one up to the part I read, dunno about the rest).

I'm afraid I don't have anything for you on that other request. I've never actually read any Rufus fics, and though I think I have read one fic that had Zach/Dean, I'm pretty sure it was there for the squick value, and it ended Destiel.

And you totally should take credit. I had never planned to read that fic by FaithDaria, but I will now that you rec'd it. Btw, have you visited this (http://faithburke.livejournal.com/) journal? It's the shared fic account of PaBurke and FaithDaria and those two are like, required reading for smart!Dean fans.

I saw the first episode when it aired because I loved early Sam (called Dean) on Gilmore Girls, but it was just whatever, and then I caught a late S5 ep (I sadly can't remember which one) and was all "holy bob where has this been all my life" and then went and watched all of it before the next episode. I actually entered fanfiction around the same time, so I basically had this whole new world to explore ~~to make up for a disappointing finale~~ and never looked back.

LOL I'm pretty sure that's the post that re-started me on my Adam kick. I didn't even realize Midam (hahahaha best shipping name) was a thing until then. (Most of the Adam fics I read before were written around the s4 ep not the s5 eps.) I mean, I could have guessed, but didn't realize it. (And Adam/Nick too.)

Here, I was searching through the HS tag for something and came across two Adam ones that were good: Oh, Feather-boy (http://archiveofourown.org/works/487426/chapters/849784)
by surrenderdammit (this is Destiel with mentions of Adam) and Shapes Like Puzzle Pieces (http://archiveofourown.org/works/478392) by safeandwarm (which, ok, is Midam - hahaha - but besides being AU the relationship with the brothers really worked for me; ending was kind of eh but it may be worth a shot even though, yeah, Midam.)

:) Already read the 3 W's one. Well, like you, I think I made it a few more chapters and then had to stop because, yeah, just wasn't happening the way I wanted ~~and it was really fucking long/slow~~. And thanks but yep, I've been to that journal, for Paternal Evolution and the Hedgehog verse. PaBurke and FaithDaria are likeable but not authors I really chase after, though yep, they do seem to do smart!dean.

Haha, I think I actually saw the first episode back when it first aired too, but didn't commit to it because of reasons stated above. And apart from that, though I liked Dean when he was with Rory in the early seasons, by the time it was around what? Fourth season? When he was married and stuff... I was just, pretty much over him. And this kinda carried over to SPN back in the day.

And man, you have got to watch season 2 of Dark Angel then! Yeah, its annoying when you get to the end, and if you came in for Max, you might not like the completely changed dynamics in the season 2.... but Alec. I mean, I actually watched DA twice, but I couldn't really remember the 1st time and didn't know who the characters were exactly. When I was watching it again, older and wise, my mother was the one who told me to watch out for the "beautiful boy with the most perfect lips" and I have not looked back since. *grins*

Haha, too bad there doesn't seem to be more interest in Adam though. I wish I could read more - that isn't Midam - since 1. Jake Abel, hello?! and 2. his character has so much potential for fic and stuff. And man, you just give and give and give, doncha? I prolly won't read the Midam one, but I'm definitely reading the 1st one! XD

And I see we feel the same way about 3Ws. I made it probably about halfway through it before I just couldn't go on anymore, which made it feel like I wasted a few hours for nothing since I never actually got to read what I had been hoping to read when I opened up the fic. In re: Faithburke, I haven't actually visited that site in months before I linked it, so I was happy to see an update on the Hedgehog Verse. Otherwise, while not my favorite authors as well, I thought they deserved their due since PaBurke did write the fic (http://faithburke.livejournal.com/53840.html#cutid1) that is rec'd to me almost every single time I ask for smart!dean.

Oh, argh, that show managed to completely derail almost every single character by the time it ended. My personal canon for each character ends at completely random times for all of them. (Oh Lane, I am never getting over what happened to you Lane.) Yeah, he was pissing me off by the time he ended GG, but I tried to keep my early love for him in the forefront when I tried out SPN. (I may or may not have succeeded.)

JA has been on so many shows I stopped before it got to him, I could have had years of looking at him if I could sit through shit-episodes for longer. (Look, JA is ~~holy bob so beautiful~~ really pretty, but he's also an amazing actor.) And I really want to see S2 Dark Angel (I've watched plenty of shows for one character before, and I did like Max) except my downloads that I don't do because that's illegal aren't working and they don't have the show available on the netflix plan I have and my library doesn't have it and *sadface*

I don't really have the 1. hello for him, but yeah, underlining and bolding #2. What a waste (I say as I do no Adam fics *g*...though in my defense I do have one planned for my girl!verse...at some point...in the future...)

Oh hey! Been busy with school and watching Italian films in class like a boss, so sorry I haven't gotten back to you til now.

Oooh, intriguing. I always thought Jo was awesome, and definitely the boys' younger sister in spirit (I now also think that of Charlie). Kinda cute to see her paired up with their real lil bro.

On an earlier note, got kinda mixed up by the end. There were some plotlines that I thought weren't followed to their logical ends, and some that were just jammed in there despite lack of buildup. Still, it's one of my all time favorite shows, and shaped such a big part of my early teen years.

I haven't actually seen Jensen's other work, besides DA and 10 Inch Hero, but I personally consider him one of the most beautiful men in the world so *drools* And I don't what you have to do, but you have to watch season 2 of DA. I liked it more than S1, as many fans do, simply because of Alec. You might get pissed at the show in general because of pretty out there plots, and the fact that it was cancelled abruptly so almost everything is up in the air, but ALEC. And ngl, if you become an Alec fan, you might start getting annoyed at Max ~~and especially LOGAN~~ though I'm a diehard Max/Alec fan at heart.

Oh yeah, I still adore GG (do you watch the showrunner's new show Bunheads?), but Lane's character assassination and the complete OOC of most of the main cast was ridiculous.

Let's see (and I'm totally cheating and using imdb to see his filmography), I watched Dawson's Creek (gag) and Smallville (*tears of boredom*) which he popped up on as a repeating guest star, but only after I stopped watching the shows. Saw 10 Inch Hero (eh), My Bloody Valentine (that was just embarrassing) and still plan to see Still Life (which also has Morena Baccarin, score) and Batman (which, ok, is just his voice) and maybe Devour (because I want to see if it's better or worse than My Bloody Valentine.)

Conclusion: My JA love comes from SPN and I watch way too much shit.

Ok, ok, I shall aim to see S2 DA. Hmm, wonder if LatinoTV is still replaying it; I know they did for awhile but not sure how many years ago that was. Pretty sure none of my friends have the DVD sets but I'll check around for those too.

I actually shipped Logan/Max for awhile, but then something happened - I can't even remember what, but it soured them for me - so I can totally float the good ship Max/Alec if I just start at S2. Were they canon or just a shipper's dreamboat?

I watched a single episode of Bunheads when I was home for the holidays, but I couldn't get into it. Maybe I'm just too old now, but I couldn't find that spark that got me hooked on GG when I was a kid.

Jensen's other works are not things to write home about, haha. I've never watched his other tv shows, and when I tried to gather some will to watch Smallville, I ended up spoiling myself on what happens to him and totally nipped that urge in the bud. I have 10 Inch Hero saved on my computer simply because I actually like Jensen and Danneel irl, I am never going to watch Devour, no idea about Still LIfe (but it has Inara in it?!), and now that I think about it, I think I forced my family to watch My Bloody Valentine in our hotel room when they visited me for my birthday a couple of years ago (they were not happy with me) . Oh, and while I've never managed to watch B:UtRH all the way through, Jensen has become Jason in my head whenever I try fancasting.

Despite his questionable choice in projects though, I won't ever regret watching DA because I discovered Jensen through it, and it propelled me to watching SPN.

BTW, so did I! By the end of S1, I was all but screaming at the TV for Max and Logan to just kiss already, but then suddenly, S2 happened. And I went from finding Max and Logan mildly cute (and the only pairing in the show, so I had to find it tolerable or else) to thinking their whole epic love deal was so frigging annoying. They were angsting it up on screen, when all I wanted was my Alec-time, honestly! They weren't canon, though it's been hypothesized that had the show not been cancelled, their pairing would have been given its due in the next season. Still, the MA ship kinda took over the fandom, so you'll have lotsa fics to choose from if you get into it.

Bunheads, I admit, is kind of slow, and definitely not on GG's level, but it does get better. (Uh, this is not my show rec. I save show recs for things I adore; I just like this, and totally ship Boo/Sasha.)

I was excited to see her in 10 Inch Hero too, though again, didn't love the movie. And yeah, apparently it has Inara in it. (Who also doesn't have my favorite filmography...come on actors! That's the third one in this comment thread already!)

Don't have access to it where I'm staying at, I'm afraid. I suppose when I go home for the summer, I can give it a try and marathon it, but every time I see Amy Sherman-Palladino's name, I just get sad that I'm not watching GG instead.

And I hear ya! I want to see better movies from Jensen so much!

Nah, really, if you don't like the first/second episode, you probably won't like the rest. And yeah, not as good as GG. (*sigh* Now I want to watch some GG again.)
