I believe that's All Your Strange Language (http://raphaela667.livejournal.com/tag/all+your+strange+language) by [livejournal.com profile] raphaela667. It's a multi-chapter story, and the part you mention becomes an issue in a later chapter, when Jared's father visits and they never got around to clearing all the stuff off the bed, if I recall correctly.
