LJ recently moved it's servers to Russia and changed it's Terms of Service. There's an article on Gizmodo here and on another site here. I've had some people ask if we are going to move the Comm to another site. At the moment, no we don't. But I wanted to get opinions on the matter.

There's been spam porn bots posting comments on posts in the Community. I've changed some of the comment settings to hopefully combat this. Comments from accounts not part of the Comm will have to do a CAPTCHA and will automatically be screened. If you get a porn bot comment on your post, let me know here (hopefully its screened so no one else can see it). I don't know if everyone has the ability to mark a post as spam and have it delete all the users comments from the community, but when I mark a comment as spam it gives me that option.

If you get a legitimate comment from someone outside the community, please unscreen their comment so everyone can see it.

I'm on vacation for this week and I'm in an area with spotty internet connection. I'll try to get to every post as they come in, but if I don't, I'll get to it when it's possible. Thank you!

So we've been having problems with the layout of the community showing an extreme amount of white space in between some entries, which means people had to scroll forever to get to the next entry or didn't realize there was any entries after all that white space.

I've changed the layout to the default in the mean time while I figure something out. Just a heads up.

Currently I'm using the Dreamwidth spnstoryfinders as a back up of the one on Livejournal. Every week I import the entries from LJ to DW. I don't check the moderation queue on this site because as of now, it's a backup just in case LJ deletes the Comm. Also, there's no easy way to correct/fix/add tags on a post in the queue. If you want to post something, please do it over at LJ spnstoryfinders and not here. Your post will either just sit in queue or be deleted. Your entries will be automatically imported over from LJ when I do the import every week.

The import/backup/move to dreamwidth is all done. You can find the comm at spnstoryfinders and I’m kruel_angel_lj there. We still have no plans to move and the majority (53.6%) of you voted to not move. So for now, I’ll be backing up periodically to dreamwidth from LJ.

If you want to move to dreamwidth from LJ, DW’s support page has tutorials on how to do everything from importing to claiming your open ID. There’s a tutorial here for how to make your DW look like your LJ and here for viewing comments in whatever format you want.

Something is wrong in the formatting of someones post or the theme is messed up. If your post ends up being deleted because of this I'll send you a PM to let you know and you can repost it if you want. Sorry for the trouble.

update: I don't know whether it was a post or not that the formatting messed things up. It seems to start at the 4th post down and then messes up white boxes that the post text ends up in and without deleting every post as I go there's no way to find out. Anyway, I changed the number of entries you can see and by trial and error it works, now when you veiw the Comm you'll only see 6 entries at a time instead of 50.

Heads up to these users: darkmelon, green_foxfire, bound_amalthea, ereynolds74, rivkat7, your posts ended up being the ones that were deleted. I sent you all a PM letting you know also. So sorry for the inconvenience.


update #2: Figured out which post it was and deleted it, everything should be back to the way it was before this.

The new preference: any characters / all pairings tag has been added!

When using this tag you must:

• Welcome all characters and all pairings. 
• Must not exclude any characters and pairing as a side-note.

For example:

• If a poster sends a submission for happy, au reccs with any and all characters/pairings. All pairings are welcomed. - This post would be accepted if they used the "preference: all characters / any pairing" tag along with all other relevant tags.

• If a user posted the same message as above with the exception of dean/jo or Sam/Cas, this submission would be rejected because the user is not welcoming all pairings. 

*The same thing would happen if they exclude a specific character as well.


This tag is not meant to be a substitute for properly tagging characters and/or pairings if your submission requires it.

• If you submit a post searching for a specific J2 fic and you use the preference tag instead of the pairing: jared/jensen tag along with all other relevant tags your post will be rejected.

• If you submit a post looking for hurt castiel recommendations and you use the preference tag instead of the character tag along with all relevant tags your post will be rejected.

You must abide by the "characters and/or pairing tags" rule in these instances.

Now let's say you submit a post that is searching for a specific character fic as well as an au all pairing recc; you would then use the character tag and the preference tag.

All post must be tagged no matter what. Please tag to the best of your ability, while still following the comm's guidelines.

If you are having doubts on what tags to use or if you need clarification on a rule before you post, please don't hesitate to a pm a mod and we will be more than happy to provide assistance!

Hello, Fanfiction Enthusiasts!

We are in need of your input regarding the idea of adding a new tag, specifically a tag for posters looking for fic recommendations, but do not have a preference on characters or pairings.

This new tag recommendation was suggested by a fellow community member looking to post, but felt like the tagging rules overlooked the "any pairing/all characters" poster and made it difficult for members to abide by community rules, specifically:

• Must have character and/or pairing tag
• No over tagging
• Tag what you insist on

This new tag would help posters abide by the above mentioned rules and submissions will no longer be rejected.

The only stipulation would be that posters must state they accept all pairings and characters and must not exclude any as a side-note. For example:

• If a poster sends a submission for happy fic, set in the au S7 with any and all characters/pairings. All pairings are welcomed. - This post would be accepted if they used the "no preference" tag.

• If a user posted the same message as above with the exception of dean/jo or Sam/Cas, this submission would be rejected because the user is not welcoming all pairings. 

*The same thing would happen if they exclude a specific character as well.

Please stop posting comments on the Sticky Post making request for a fic search. The comments will be ignored.

Here is a list of (sometimes) frequently searched deleted authors/journals/stories. The list is alphabetical (by authors name) for convenience and broken up into two sections. "Deleted/Purged Journals" and "Deleted stories (authors still active)". I've linked the searches (not all of them), most of the time someone will have the story and is willing to share it in the comments or there is a download link. There are others where the author doesn't want their work shared. If the author changed their names I've listed that too. There are a couple that turned up nothing.

This is an easy 'to go to' list for the comm and will be located in the sidebar, any new posts requesting anything here will be denied.

Let me know if I missed anything or if something should be added, will be updated regularly. Comments are screened.

To search through this for a specific person you can press ctrl+f (cmd+f on Mac) on your keyboard and start typing the authors name and it will pop down to that spot.

The Deleted List has been updated and is now too large to keep in one post. I've separated the posts into the two categories: "Deleted/Purged Journals" and "Deleted stories (authors still active)"

If any of you know a way around LJ's post limit or a better way to keep it all in one place, I'm open to suggestions.

Just a heads up, apostrophee/maddys_slash made a post here and here stating that they will be deleting their AO3, Tumblr and LiveJournal accounts tonight.

She doesn't know if she's going to bring them back, so either contact the author for her fics or get them yourselves before they're gone for good.

The Deleted authors/journals/stories List has been updated. It hasn't been updated since October, sorry for that.

Also, for those of you asking for a deleted story to be shared and including your email addy in your request, it would be much simpler to just ask for the story to be shared. Other people most likely want it too.

And for the people that respond to requests for a story to be shared please just post a download link instead of offering to share it via email. This cuts down on comments and makes it easier for everyone who wants the story. I can and will upload it to my own mediafire account and host it and add it to the Deleted List.


Also for those who want to make their own PDF's (or are just asking for PDF's) and don't know how, I made a tutorial here a while back. Also there is a plugin called Fanfictiondownloader for Calibre that allows you to download stories from many different site (LJ not included) in any format you could ever want. See more info here.

LiveJournal is currently up, but you may encounter some problems while attempting to use the service. We recently had a request asking for stories concerning slash pairings specifically involving Colin Ford.

As mods we discussed if we should all this or not and how this request could pertain to other underage SPN actors as well. We've come to the decision that we will not allow any requests to be made regarding any pairings involved with Colin or any underage Supernatural actor  for that matter, regarding stories that are "sexually explicit" and/or mention any "kinks" of that nature. 

Now with that being said, we will still accept post concerning Colin and other underage SPN actors, but any requests involving the aforementioned of any kind will be rejected.

There are several reasons why we've come to this decision. The main and most important reason is that they are not adults, but minors and minors should not have a place in a fanfiction forum in regards to above mentioned situations or any of that nature for the matter. Therefore, any submissions that deal with the previously mentioned will not be accepted.

Whether or not you agree with this, we hope you can respect our decision to ensure this comm continues to be tolerant and welcoming as it can to all members, but still safeguards the comm's integrity.

Just a friendly reminder about posting requests about Season 8. Just remember to use livejournal cuts or even spoiler code when posting about Season 8. Just to be courteous to those who have not seen the season. Though I won't worry about this, you all do wonderful with spoilers when posting.

Though, there has been just one incident of spoilers being posted in the comments and some getting spoiled. While discussion about the season is great, we encourage you to do that in your own journals, but if you do post somewhat spoilery things in the comments please use spoiler code! If you see spoilery comments, feel free to pm one of us and we will screen the comment and or pm the op to give them the chance to edit their comment (if no one has commented to it yet)

We've been getting a lot of request lately looking for Comm's that have prompting and/or a place to leave plot bunnies. So I was thinking if you guys could comment here with a list that you know of and I can compile it and make a post to put into the sidebar.

Also maybe other resource (or something else) posts you guys can think of to put in the sidebar. We have the Rec Comm's and PDF Comms, also the Deleted List.

I'm posting this again as a reminder:

Posts that come into the queue that have weird colors or changes in the font style or size (other than the default) will be rejected.

This is clearly stated on the Sticky Post, and it has a picture on how to make a post to avoid font formatting to your incoming requests.

We recently had a request asking for stories about Thomas, Jared and Gen's son, and also for a Thomas tag.

The other mod's and I discussed if we should allow this or not. We've come to the decision that we will not allow any requests to made asking about Thomas (or West for that matter) and there will be no tags for them either.

There are several reasons why we've come to this decision. First and foremost, he is a child. Second he's not an actor and has never been affiliated with Supernatural. I know some of you will say that we have person tags for people not on Supernatural, but I'll say again that he is not an adult, but a child and I and the mods stand firm on this.

Requests for daddy!Jared (or Misha) are fine. But specifically request stories with their children by name will be rejected.

Whether or not you agree with this, I hope you can respect our decision.

I've added download links to some pdf's that were readily available. Searching through a post with over 200 comments for someone that is willing to share is kind of overwhelming to some, so I thought this would be easier. I'll update it as stuff comes along.

A gold star (★) denotes that there are pdf(s) available for download. Link(s) are right there and titled.

A red star (★) means a definite that the author doesn't want the story/stories shared. If you find there is a download link for an author the you know for sure doesn't want their stories shared, please let me know and I will remove the link.
