Hi!

I'm looking for fic dealing with Dean's hell-related trauma. But since I've already read a lot of stories in the genre, I'd prefer some less obvious recs. Maybe ones that were written more recently or never got as much attention as you thought they deserved. Maybe they're even set in later seasons. As long as they're well-characterized and explore Dean's post-hell issues I'm interested. That said, I'll take any hell!Dean recs, as I'm sure there are relatively well known fics that I may have neglected to check out as well.

I'm also interested in Sam/Dean fic that is set in s4 (or later) and doesn't ignore Dean's post-hell trauma. It doesn't have to be the focus of the story as long as it plays a part in Dean's characterization and the conflict between the brothers. And while I love and appreciate protective!Sam it doesn't have to be a fix-it. I like how dark and complicated things were between them during that era so more of that would be nice.

Just no hurt!Sam/caretaker!Dean please. It's pretty self-explanatory based on my request but better to be safe!

Back in the fandom after a long hiatus, and have sadly misplaced a lot of my old fanfic bookmarks. I'm looking for a story that I think was posted on LJ. Can't remember whether it was gen or Wincest, but I do remember that Dean is left temporarily blind after Lucifer is freed. He and Sam stay at Bobby's for a while before hightailing it, and I think Dean may have been slow to update Sam when his eyesight started coming back because he felt like it was better for Sam to freak out over that than to freak out over everything else going on with them.

Does this ring any bells with anyone?

Hey guys, I’ve been looking for this short fic on ao3. Dean wrote a bucket list after making his deal, and I only remember one thing from his list: Don’t drink on Mom’s birthday.

And then I think Dean got drunk anyway and visited Mary’s grave. That’s all I can remember about the plot. I think the fic may be written in a list format, too—-if that makes sense.

I'm looking for a fic that was a retelling of the first 5 seasons but with just Dean and Castiel, Sam stayed in Stanford.

I think Dean and Cas went back in time or something and went about the whole apocalypse in a different way.

Sam stayed at stanford, and he wasn't really aware the apocalypse was starting. Dean and cas got a whole gang of hunters to join a network to stop the apocalypse. John was kinda kept outa the loop in the story.

Ringing any bells for anyone? It was probably Gen or Destiel. I remember it being kinda longish.

I'm looking for a fic that takes place in S4 (I would prefer it to be around ep14-ep19 when tensions between the brothers are high, but any other time during S4 is fine too) that has hurt!dean and protective!sam. Powers!sam is awesome too. I prefer it to take place when there's a lot of tension/arguments between the brothers and having it end up with sam saving dean or some other kind of h/c (but that may be a little too picky XD). I would prefer NO Castiel in the fic, and NO wincest! Thank you!

I am looking for a specific spanking fic, which i think it was actually a verse? I think it started with some Season 3 but there was more Season 4?

Basically I remember one scene where Sam gets caught lying when he sneaks out with Ruby-( i think this one was with Ruby 1.0) Because after Dean spanked Sam and Sam was falling asleep he whispers to himself he hope Dean doesn't find out what he and Ruby talk about. The there is another Scene where I think Dean caught Sam with Ruby (Season 4) I don't know if he caught him drinking blood or not or maybe it was after the Siren fiasco?

I just remember Sam sitting in the passenger seat angry and sullen, until Dean tells him to stay put while he gets a room at the motel they are staying- and something in Dean voice got Sam attention and gave him an old funny feeling he hasn't felt since Dean went to hell.....I do remember either in the car ride or at the motel Dean telling Sam "you're gonna wish i never came back?" I think that was the sentence or maybe "You're gonna wish i was still in hell"

1) Dean is experiencing traumatic PTSD dreams after returning from Hell. He and Sam are sharing a bed.. I don’t think they have an established physical relationship, but Sam is there for comfort. Dean ends up wetting the bed and Sam purposely does the same to reduce Dean’s humiliation. I don’t know if this lead to anything sexual..


2) One of the boys is shaving the other’s face in a hotel bathroom. I believe it was Dean shaving Sam because he had hurt his hand. Beautifully written, very intimate atmosphere, and leads to first-time Wincest. I feel like this was written by a prominent Wincest writer. (Thought it was runedgirl, but I can’t find it.)

I am looking for a season 4 fic. I remember the titles of each chapter was a lyric from the Fort Minor - Remember the Name (Ten percent luck, Twenty percent skill, fifteen percent concentrated power of will, etc.) I think it was Uriel making Sam and Dean live out many alternate lives to test if they would choose each other each and every time or not. (They weren't related in those AUs and I think Uriel said that Sam and Dean were only so devoted to each other because they were brothers.) To prove to Castiel that they weren't worthy or something? In the end after Dean and Sam chose each other over and over even though they weren’t related in those AUs, Castiel finally pulled them out. I want to say that the story was wincest? Not super sure though. Also, I think the story might have been part of the Big Bang Challenge? Thanks in advance if anyone can find this story for me! Or something similar?

I've been looking for a story I read awhile back that I can't find anymore. I believe it takes place in Season 4. Sam is having back spasms/cramps from his injury from Jake, but because the brother's relationship is strained, he doesn't want to tell Dean about it. Sam doesn't get out of bed in the morning (because he can't), and at first Dean thinks he's just being lazy. But he eventually starts wondering if something is up, and then figures it out and takes care of Sam.

I need a help finding an old fanfic. The platform was either AO3 or fanfiction.net, probably the latter.

TW FOR GORE but the plot is Sam made a deal with this man where has has to give some of his blood away to the man once a week to save Dean from hell. The man gives the blood to this vampire, Sam passes out from blood loss in an alley way, Dean finds him, and he goes to a hospital, but plays it off as nothing. Dean follows him giving blood and Lilith shows up.

Sam meets Bobby in a restaurant and Dean comes in, possibly in sunglasses, and starts trying to get a rise of out them by talking about how he wants a steak, nice and bloody, etc.

I was re-reading the 'Redemption Road' series when I remembered this fic existed and I adored it. Here's what I recall: it is definitely an OLD story (at least 5 years ago), it was a 'Cas goes to Hell to save Dean' pre-start of season four fic, and it isn't any of the stories mentioned in THIS: http://spnstoryfinders.livejournal.com/8710379.html similar request. I'm not sure if it was Destiel slanted or not - but it was more about the journey through Hell then the torture stuff. 1. A specific Destiel fic where Cas was a witch, so was Gabriel I think, and Dean was his familiar(I think he could turn into an animal), the story is about how they meet, and there's a scene where John shows up, possibly at Bobby's when Cas is trying to heal Dean from something, and attempts to shoot Cas and/or Dean I think. Gabriel protects them I believe. Dean either didn't know he was a familiar or had been taught witches were evil or something. Thanks!
2. A general destiel fic search where Dean has a chronic illness or disability of any form, and Cas is his doctor and/or caregiver.
3. A specific destiel fic from a years back, set after Cas raises Dean from hell-in this story, Dean became a demon in hell, he had horns and a twisted appearance, and Cas had to take him somewhere for a long time to help him heal, keep him chained up because he kept trying to attack Cas. I think the horns fell off eventually or something.
4. Any fics where Chuck is a father figure to any of the boys, rescues the boys from being abused, or is in anyway remotely paternal to Dean, Cas, or Sam.

I'm not looking for a specific fic. But any fic that has to do with Dean being traumitized from his time spent in Hell or Purgatory. It could be anywhere from being nonfunctional and not able to be left unsupervised to functioning but with severe PTSD. I really want to read about the emotional, physical, psychological effects of Hell or Purgatory on Dean.

Also they can be AU in that maybe Sam gets Dean out of Hell and angels aren't involved ot it can follow canon.

Also I'm good with both Wincest and Destiel, so if anyone knows any good fics I would be grateful!

I am rewatching Season 4, and was struck by how much I adore Cas in his early days, pre-rebelion. I would really like to read some Destiel that begins in Season 4 before Cas rebels against heaven. Happy endings please.

So, I am looking for a specific fic. Sadly I don't remember the title or the author, only that it was on AO3. Every chapter was one episode of the show. The author or authors were up to season 8 or something, I think? Basically, it was about a character from every episode mistaking Sam and Dean somehow for a couple, although they aren't together. It was awesome reading how every episode could have some Wincest and the boys reaction to it.

So to recap, every chapter was from a different outsider point of view, it wasn't actual slash, but the outsider always thinks the boys are together, there are many chapters (though the single chapters aren't actually every long) and it's still a work in progress.

Rings any bells? I've no idea how I can't seem to find this on my own...

The first one I read awhile ago, but I can't find it now. In the fic the Winchester tradition of making deals with demons is continued with preseries Sam. John, Dean, and Sam were staying somewhere really cold in winter and Dean had an accident ( maybe he fell on freezing water? Can't remember.) and was hospitalized. Doctors said that Dean was going to die. A demon offered Sam that he/she would save Dean if Sam just did a little thing for it.Sam was desperate and made the deal. The demon saved Dean and made the Winchesters forget the whole thing. Now in season four, Ruby reveals to Sam, while taking him to free Lucifer, that if Sam doesn't say yes to the Devil, Dean will die. (and maybe go back to hell? Not sure.) I think it was gen.

I commented yesterday that I totally wasn't addicted to Post-Hell-Issues!Dean and could stop any time I wanted. I lied.


1. Fics where there is some kind of benefit to Dean's time in Hell, even if it isn't taken as one-- Demons, etc. being afraid of Dean, given his former status as Alastair's protégé; an unreasonable pain tolerance (I can so picture Sam or Bobby being really freaked out by this); using an "I've been to Hell and back" speech for intimidation (I've read a fic where Sam did this, and it was skull-shatteringly cool), and so forth.

(And ooh, what if even Ruby was on edge when it came to Dean?)


2. Given the sheer length of time he spent in the Pit, I'd wager Dean might have some trouble adjusting. Forgetting that torture isn't really acceptable topside? Having his time topside be a distant memory, so he'd have trouble recalling everything, even perhaps tingeing reunions with nostalgia?


3. I'm looking for just about any Harry Potter crossover that involves some sort of magical mishap delving into Dean's time in Hell. i.e., an Alastair boggart; an instance of legilimency gone horribly wrong; Crucio rendered laughable, etc. Even if it's just one scene in a larger fic. "Changing Circumstances" by EclipseWing did this well.


4. Okay, this one's a long shot. One of my favorite- but sadly abandoned- fics involved a Hell-traumatized Dean waking up in his teenaged body, and being unable to hide that fact from John and Sam. Another was written for the prompt, "Dean dreams of Hell. He is 10 years old." D'you see where I'm going with this?


I prefer no slash, but I could tough out minor Dean/Cas if it's reeeally good. (Dean/Alastair is okay, because I really wouldn't put it past the bastard.)

So, I have a hankering for fics that address the selfish comment Sam made about Dean in S9. Where he said that Dean is fine with sacrificing as long as he's not the one getting hurt. I really would love to see a fic where Sam is corrected. I'm not looking for the part where Sam says that he wouldn't do the same for Dean (save him if he were dying). I understand that part as miscommunication (Holy blonde cheerleader Batman, miscommunication!). I want it to brought to Sam's attention on just how much Dean has sacrificed for him over their lives. Stuff like, HELL?! Leaving Ben and Lisa (he tells Sam if he ever mentions their names again, he's going to break his nose...), his entire childhood, etc.

Perhaps maybe, when other characters sit and think about it, Dean's road to a demon never truly stopped from S3/4? The Mark just sped things up to where he couldn't fight against it anymore? (I don't believe Dean is inherently a bad person, just a thought about the way his life has gone, how much for granted he's taken by everyone, etc. I just think that takes a greater toll than the show has portrayed up until S9/10).

Hello! I'm in need for fics where the themes of seasons 4/5 are in focus. I mean all the angst and hurt that Dean goes trough due to sam and the demon blood. Also, the aftermath is important: Sam realizing what he did (not only releasing Lucifer but also how he hurt Dean and such) and feeling immense guilt. I want him to really have to work for his forgiveness and for Dean to not act like nothing ever happened. It could be wincest or a gen brother relationship. But if it is wincest I'd prefer bottom!Dean. Thank you!

I have been reading so much Destiel, Samifer, Sabriel, and J2 lately that I'm suddenly craving some gen fics, taking place during any of the seasons between 4 and 10. I really don't care if they focus on a specific character or not but would prefer them to be at least 20,000 words long.

Where Dean already went to Hell whilst Sam was at Stanford. Castiel must be in it. So basically Dean gets sent to Hell and is rescued by Cas while Sam was at Stanford and Sam notices his brother isn't quite how he remembers what with the PTSD and all. Also if u haven't already I reccomend you read The Road Begins its so good :)

2. Any fics that Deans PTSD is featured in would be great. Be it PTSD from the military or Hell.

1) I read a hurt!dean story a long time ago and I remember that it was really well written and not a long one but can't remember the details. I think Sam said something along the line "It has never been about you, right, Dean? It has always been about someone else".

2) Is there any story that deal with Dean's message (in season 4 final)? Like they talk about it afterward and Dean tells Sam that he didn't say anything like what Sam heard.

Looking for a specific fic where Dean gets hit by some kind of near-death paralysis spell during a hunt that leaves him conscious, and so he gets to hear Sam break down when Sam thinks he's dead. S4 fic, because I remember Ruby enters the mix at some point, and is aware that Dean's still alive but conveniently neglects to tell Sam.

Also, if anyone knows any other fics along this line where one brother gets cursed and the other thinks he's dead, that would be really great!

I'm watching 4.04 Metamorphosis on TNT right now and was just wondering, is there any fics out there that are a coda to this episode where Dean and Sam track down Mrs. Montgomery and talk to her about her husband.   Would love to read a follow-up story to this episode that entails an aftermath.  Anything out there.  Would appreciate any help.

I've just gotten my brother into the show long-distance (he lives in CT and I'm in FL). I don't think he even knows fanfic exists, but he does love the show.

What I'm asking for are stories you absolutely love: either with the brothers' relationship or the hunt, whatever. I would prefer to give him something not really arc-heavy, but something someone who is just watching the first time via re-runs on TNT. That puts him only up to season 6. Honestly, I'm not sure how much of the earlier seasons he managed to watch, I think it may be a little spotty so maybe nothing involving the deal. If you want to rec something like that, mark it and I can save it for later.

Are there any fics about the overnight drive that Dean, Sam, Ruby, and Anna took from Bobby's house to Kentucky to find Anna's grace in episode 410 (Heaven and Hell)? Maybe where Dean and Ruby are the only ones awake and Sam and Anna are both asleep and Dean and Ruby talk? If this gapfiller doesn't exist yet, someone should write it :)

Fics based around season four. Where Dean is sad/angry/betrayed by Sam keeping secrets or him being with Ruby? I want Wincest but it'd not required. Destiel is fine, too. Just not heavy Sam hate please.

A happy ending is also preferred but not necessary.

I could've sworn I had this bookmarked, but it looks like not.

It's basically what it says on the tin: mid-season-four Dean has been regressed to roughly the age of 5, but he still remembers Hell and has nightmares about it; Sam tries to comfort him.  I'm pretty sure it was before the revelation about what really happened in Hell, but child!Dean doesn't express himself quite well enough for Sam to figure it out.  I recall that one of the things Dean says is that Alastair wouldn't let him "have a name" until he said yes, and also claimed that he wanted to torture people, which Dean vehemently (if incoherently) denies.

Any takers?  I am about 75% sure that the author's LJ name began with H, if that helps...

1. Sam and Dean post s4-finale. They're driving around a post-apocalyptic society while Chuck and Castiel have their roadtrip to find the Winchesters. Chuck keeps having visions of the Winchesters and writes them down. There's a scene I remember where group leader tries to get Dean to give him sexual favors in return for supplies and Dean laughs and shoots the guy.

2. A long in the future fic where Winchester gospels are part of a Hunter-esque religion in a dystopic/post-apocalyptic society. 2 young boys meet a guy calling himself Castiel who tells them that they are Dean and Sam reincarnated. There's a scene where church mass leads to Castiel finding Dean and Sam.

Sam and Dean had to live with younger versions of themselves for a while. Sam was getting jeaolus by the attention his dean was giving to his little self. 1) This fic goes AU after the fight in Sex and Violence (S4). Sam kills Lilith without raising Lucifer, and Dean finds him in a near catatonic state. Sam hears bits and pieces of what's going on around him and thinks Dean's going to kill him. He runs. A year later, Dean stumbles across him in a town where he works at the library while recovering from brain cancer - a side effect of the demon blood powers. I think the fic was on LJ, but not sure.

Dean tries to track him down but Sam's phone is off and he's in Spain trying to locate a gate to Hell so he can figure out some way to help fight off the devil on his own turf. They end up fighting hellhounds or something like that in an old Spanish castle. I think this one was written for one of the mini-bangs a few years back.

Sam thinks Dean is a shapeshifter or something and Dean thinks Sam is a crazy guy. Sam takes Dean to Bobby's. Dean thinks it's a trick and that Sam is trying to kidnap him or something. It is all told from Dean's POV.

2. Sam is believed dead. Dean mourns for several months and stays at Bobby's. He's supported by Bobby, Ellen and Jo. But Sam is actually alive, he is homeless, lost his memory and has a stray dog as a pet. Dean finds him somehow and brings him back home. They are going to start hunting again but Sam wants to bring his dog and Dean doesn't want him to. They have an argument and Dean is jealous that Sam seems to care more about the dog than him. The fic was written before the Season 2 finale.

I read this one a while ago then lost track of it. If ant remember the title, but it was about Cas at the end of S4 meeting Raphael who sends him back in time to teenage!Dean (who I think was sixteen) and their relationship from there. I think cas changed his name to Caspar or something like that. Parallel to that was Dean in the beginning of S4 being reunited with the long lost love of his life who goes by a different name and doesn't know him at all. At the end of the fic, they meet up at the beginning of S5, with present!Dean and Cas, who has left teenage!Dean behind.

If anybody could help me find it, I would be eternally grateful!

Hi everyone! I’ve been so very lucky with my previous requests here, I’m gonna chance it again and ask all you nice people for your kind help)))

My angst bunny is demanding to be fed, and I’ve been rewatching some of the previous eps waiting for S9, so now I’m looking for (sorry for it being so looooong):

1. Fics where Sam believes Dean is going to make good on the voicemail and kill him (I’ve always been fascinated by the sort of flinch-halfstep back Sam took at the end of The End, when Dean got Ruby’s knife out). Sam being suicidal and all “go on, do it, I’m not gonna fight” is a bonus, so is the voicemail issue finally being resolved. Fic can be set either at the end of Lucifer Rising, or at any point before their reconciliation in Fallen Idols, or at any time at all in S5, really, but setting within these first eps will be squeed over))). An excellent example of this is Reap by Tyranusfan.

2. Fics where Dean gains some perspective / insight into Sam’s side of the story during S4, which leads to an apology for the whole “you’re a monster” attitude.

3. Fics where Sam’s given credit for saving the world. I mean, not in any Dean-negative “all by himself” way, I mean where it’s really recognized that he did, in fact, save the world by jumping into Lucifer’s Cage… and just generally where it’s appreciated that it took a lot of strength to go through what he did (I mean, starting from his father basically blaming him for putting Dean in a coma in IMTOD and viewing him as a “save or kill” mission, it’s all not exactly a happy place).

4. Fics where not all of the blame for starting the Apocalypse is laid at Sam’s feet – not looking for any rewrites of canon here, just some acknowledgement that Sam wasn’t the only one who made mistakes and could’ve done some things differently, y’know?

All of these can of course be present in a single fic))) I’m okay for any pairings, length, warnings and self-recs, so long as there is a happy(ish) ending, no permanent character death, and no character bashing. Please and thank you.

Today I was suddenly reminded of a fic that I read a while ago that I am now having trouble finding, which either means that I didn't tag it well enough, or I forgot to save it.

Details: Dean's has been sent to hell and Sam doing everything he can to try to get him out. Sam eventually goes to Gabriel (who is still disguised as a Trickster) to ask him for help; Gabriel agrees to help out Sam. So the 2 of them come up with a plan that will somehow get Sam into hell to pull Dean out. (I don't remember what the exact plan was.) However, once the plan is put into action, Sam learns that it was for nothing; Dean has already been rescued.

Some time passes and the brothers talk about Dean's hell-break. Sam goes on to tell Dean that he had came up with a plan to save Dean but that the plan had ended in failure. Dean responds by saying that everything alright because Dean was rescued anyway. However this only leads to Sam saying that he feels that he failed as Dean's brother because the two of them always rescue each other and this time Sam didn't do that (thus break the status quo).

I just finished S4 and the hurt!Sam was awesome especially in the last few episodes.Need more fics revolving the description below or others similar that's not necessary in s4.
