My best friend is willing to read fanfiction!!!
This is a huge deal, because she is a too-cool-for-television-and-all-other-capitalist-mumbo-jumbo artist kinda gal, and my love for Supernatural and fanfic is the ONE thing that she cannot understand.
So please, help me MAKE her understand!
I'm thinking something along the lines of
Steam by
bellatemple or
Something Gold by
tru_faith_lost , because she loves post-apocalyptic, cyborg-y, steam-punky type stuff. But, those are a little too long, and also, I think probably not with the 'cest, much as we all love it... she's just not ready.
So, the best of the best of the best, please!!!
Thank you so much!!!
OH.
And for those of you who were invested in
the saga of letting my FATHER read fanfiction, here is his response to
The Wind Remembers Their Names by
art_savage .
Dad's Response:
Hi tootsie. Well, I read the story and here are my comments both good and bad. Which would you like first? Ok, I'll start with the good, after all it's a new year.
It is indeed very well-written, and, from what I remember of Dean and Sam, quite true to their personalities. Although I haven't seen many of the shows, they both (D & S) felt immediately familiar to me. I also liked the case. It was not too fantastic as to be unbelievable, and it kept my interest and curiosity. And that it was taken from actual case histories was very interesting. That's very clever and makes one pause, so to speak, and say a mental "Hmmm..." regarding so-called freak occurrences. It would make a very good show I think, actually. Clearly, there are some talented people out there in fan land.
On the negative side, it was a bit formulaic and a bit too plot-driven for a story for me. Now I know that TV shows tend to be that way, and may even have to be that way to keep interest, but I like plots a little less predictable and I prefer a bit more reflection in stories. So there you go.
But, you know, there are a lot of possibilities with this show. What about a philosopher who died under suspicious circumstances and returns to create massive indecision in certain people?
(Roque's Note: I think there's a perfect amount of reflection in this, thanks very much! I think he says this because he isn't familiar with the characters, since he only saw the first two episodes of Season 1. We all know how to read-between-the-lines to figure out what's going on inside their heads, but he doesn't. And that last bit, about the philosopher? I don't get it either. He's an ex-philosophy professor, and maybe he's talking about me, because I'm very indecisive and he thinks that's funny? *shrugs*)
