I am relatively new to the fandom and haven't read too much fanfiction yet, but I love trolling this comm to see what people like to read and I finally gathered the guts to make a post here!

So, could you guys rec me some novel-length, multi-chaptered fanfics high on the feels meter, that I can curl up and read while I need a break from... life? I usually don't mind het or slash, but just now, I'm in the mood for gen. It could be a death!fic, case!fic, curtain!fic, hurt/comfort, kidfic -- whatever, I'm not picky about that. For AU, though, I'd prefer it if it still pertains to the show -- at least until the pilot. And, oh, no pre-series, please -- not just now, at least. Sam and Dean as the focuses are okay, but if Cas is there too, awesome! :)

Just... I'd like something gen, plotty, and well-written with good characterisation. Also, no RPF, mpreg or genderswap, please.

Self-recs are awesome too, although if you have a AO3 or FF.net link, it's better because my LJ keeps being weird. I will leave comments once I read the fic too. :)
