One of the first stories I read in this fandom was set in S1 or S2. Dean was kidnapped by a guy to make Sam use his powers to find his missing sister and he was also going to teach Dean "a lesson". The dad of the missing girl approached them with a stuffed animal and pretty much begged Sam to hold it to find her psychically but he had to say no, it doesn't work that way. I don't remember many more details but the guy just beat Dean all to hell in a barn and it caught on fire and Sam made the dad help find where the guy had Dean. I read it ff.net. Thanks!!
