I'm looking for a specific fic. The scene I remember best is the final scene-- Dean is dead and Sam keeps his leather jacket in the back of the car, next to the oil for the guns so that it smells right.

I think the fic was a five-things type. I'm fairly certain Dean was dead throughout the entirety of the fic. It felt like it was a more permanent death than the 'four months and you get brought back' thing that happened on the show. I think an earlier scene might have had Sam wearing Dean's silver ring and using it to open beer bottles with. If the bar tender opened the bottle for him, he sent it back, asking for an unopened one (because he didn't have the life-time of practice at it that Dean did).
