One Kiss at A Time by sweet_lyri may fit for #2. Jared's parent look down on him cuz he owns a coffee shop and think he's not doing anything great with his business degree. They compare him to his brother and sister and think he's wasting his life. That really is a small part of the story, but it's there. BTW it is a long one, but very good!

One more thing, it does mention rape and drug use, just so you know if reading about that bothers you.
