A old destiel fic I've been missing that is kinda...Harlequin-ish?
Dean is the clanmother/priestess/maybe other name?? of the Hunter clan, a position he inherited from his mother that involves safeguarding the medicines and knowledge of the tribe. When the Angels(led by Michael) invade, they hold Dean hostage to control the Hunters and capture them. Michael invaded believing the humans were savages in need of 'saving' and becomes more obsessed with Dean, keeping him in his house/castle. Kinda Frollo/Esmerelda-ish style. He has Castiel guard Dean as Castiel is Michael's loyal and trusted soldier. Dean, fearing the safety of his people, plays along and develops a soft-spot for Castiel. Castiel begins to be attracted and falls for Dean, starting to question whether the Angel invasion was truly for the Hunters benefit. Turns out Michael was being fed lies by someone to encourage him to invade, one of these propagandas was about the Hunters getting high on Demon blood and having orgies, he of course pictures Dean in such a fashion and devolves into madness. Castiel witnesses Michael drugging Dean and realizes everything is wrong. Castiel tries to find Gabriel for help. On the other side, Sam and some of the other Hunters in Angel prison conspire with Demons, they allow themselves to be possessed to break out and attack Heaven. Climax happens, ends with the Hunters being released to go back to their way of life and Castiel joins them. He's encouraged by Jo and Bobby to pursue Dean and Dean is happy to have Castiel with him.
