I read a fic not too long ago where basically Sam used a ritual from a book he swiped from Bobby to remove his evil, and ended up splitting himself in two. Dean used the same ritual to undo it, then made Sam return the book to Bobby.

It was really good, though my summary is lame. This is driving me nuts, I can't find it.
