First of all, thank you, thank you for existing. I have been wracking my brain all night, going through emails and old chat logs, trying to find this fic! And most of the comms do not want you to ask where things may have gotten to.

Anyway, on to the search! There was a fic, written about 2005-2006, where Dean got stuck in a time loop. The basic story started with them driving past fires (demon started?) on their way to a town with missing children. Dean was being completely aloof (this took place at some point post-Asylum) and Sam couldn't figure out why. They got to the town, did their thing, ended up in some old building where a ritual of some sort had been going on in the basement, involving the children. Somehow, time had frozen.

And Sam died. And then the day would start over again, and Dean would remember. He couldn't change anything, no matter what he did differently; Sam always ended up dead at the end of it. I remember he mentioned that during one of the times, he had just locked Sam in the trunk of the car, and read Macbeth. (It's slightly Dean/Sam, but the first time I read it, I blinked and missed it). The Dean was perfectly desperate and hopeless, it made me itch to find it again when I saw it happen to Sam during 3.11. I actually had to pause it on the first day loop to try and hunt it down.

I remember everything about this fic, it was amazing. Except I cannot remember, for the life of me, the title or the author. I remember it was hosted on a personal website, rather than linked on lj, not that that helps me either.
