I know what you mean, because at first I had a similar reaction. However, I did get used it after a while and if you haven't already tried to stick out a fic or two read by non-Americans, I'd say give it a shot. :) To date there have been only 2 podfics I couldn't get through due to the reading and I think I've been through most of the podfics over at jinjurly's. That site will allow to browse by reader. I'd recommend twasadark's readings and candle_beck's (she reads her own fics).

I've always felt bad for it too, like I'm being accent-ist or something but it just sounds so wierd and distracting to me. It's like watching a dubbed movie or show.

I prefer Jared/Jensen or Sam/Dean but if the fic is hot enough I'll listen

The jeff/jensen one is pretty long and involved, and there is a lot angst before they actually have sex, but its pretty hot; its called A Kept Boy by poisontaster read by superstitiousme.
