acceptance as main theme
Hey guys,

As This Sunset Turns to Morning is my hands-down favorite fic, and a huge part of that is because the story focuses more on Jensen's coming to terms with himself than anything else. Does anyone know of any other fics where coming out/coming to terms with homosexuality/fighting homophobia/getting acceptance is a main theme? J2 and Wincest, please <3

I have a few fics in my delicious labeled 'coming out'. I have summaries. They're all good even if they don't fit exactly what you're looking for, though some do.

I wanted to rec you A Slow Cadence by maddys_slash as IMO it's one of the most beautiful fics in fandom dealing with homophobia, but I just realized it's been removed by the author and she doesn't want the PDF distributed. If you would like to read it, you can contact her here:

It's really worth it!

It has other themes as well but I could really recommend this:

In a Mirror Distorted and Indistinct (http://felisblanco.livejournal.com/672910.html) by [livejournal.com profile] felisblanco

Summary:
They keep calling him beautiful. Pretty. “Come on. Look this way. Give us a smile, Jensen.” He smiles and blinks against the flashes, fighting the urge to lower his eyes, to hide the blush burning under layers of makeup. Sweat runs down his back, his hands tremble.
He’s not pretty, not beautiful. He’s small and weak and pathetic and one day they’re all gonna figure it out. One day…

Screw you we're from Texas (http://makeit-takeit.livejournal.com/7249.html) by [livejournal.com profile] makeit_takeit. This has both of them but mainly Jensen, struggling to accept his homosexuality. A very excellent read.

thanks! I just started it earlier today; it's awesome so far! :)

Restraint by Dark Emeralds (http://archiveofourown.org/works/61002/chapters/80646)

There are so many reasons to love this historical Regency AU story, but Jensen (John) coming to terms with his true nature "We are not like other men." was a long, hard road for him. The road was never easy for them. (Jensen and Jared=John and Tristan)

John's realization and accepting who and what he was, was an especially stunning moment for me.

thank you! I'll definitely give it a shot :)
