I just watched the episode 'In the Beginning' where Dean's sent back to meet a young John and Mary and her folks. The thought came to me that what if, instead of Dean leaving when John awoke from death in Mary's arms, he stuck around long enough to tell her of her future death. What if, instead of leaving hunting and living a civilian life for the next ten years, Mary stayed aware, stayed in training so to speak, so she wouldn't be taken by surprise when the demon came for her baby son. I wonder how thing might have been different if John and Mary had taken precautions to protect their children, if they had know Ellen or Jim or Bobby earlier. Has anyone written anything like this? Or is this just the ramblings of an unhinged mind?
