Jensen in Witness Protection - FOUND! Link in Comments  
I'm pretty sure Jensen is in witness protection and he has a shop of sorts? And Jared has a chocolate/bakery? I think Steve has a music shop and Chad owns a new age shop, sorry details are a bit murky. Jensen doesn't realise that Jared, Steve, Chad etc are undercover cops (checked J2 Recs under Undercover cops but couldn't see this story).

That sounds like Sweet Like Chocalate (http://miss-starryeyed.livejournal.com/2953.html#cutid1) but Jensen is the one with the chocolate shop. Everything else fits.

Since I've Been Loving You by nympha-fluminis at LJ has under protection college boy Jensen even though he has no shop and none Jared is simply his college buddy turns into boyfriend.

Or Through The Darkness Into The light by Nuwanda at sinful desire. It still WIP (chapter 16) but the author hasn't update it since last year. Jensen was an FBI agent and after being kidnapped and tortured and his boyfriend was killed, he was saved by Chris. Jensen moved to another town and works in a bookstore. Jared is a cop and he lives next door in the same apartment Jensen lives. Chad is there as Chris 'spy' to make sure that Jensen is alright....
