I am looking a specific story that puts the boys and John in an alternate universe. It chronicles their lives from their first motel night until the boys start hunting of their own accord. John drinks heavily, and initially Dean is responsible for keep Sam fed and quiet. As time goes on, John starts beating Dean, but Dean takes it so Sam doesn't have to. Then one night Sam stands up to John for Dean, and after both being beaten bloody, they escape to New York City. Dean gets a job at a garage and sends Sam to school.
