J2 AU general search - ungirly men  
I have a general and rather vague request -

A lot of fics (that we know and love) tend to feature the boys as quite effeminate, either purposefully or because the dialogue just ends up there. I know you all know what I mean :) I'm looking AU J2-falling-in-love fics where the boys are quite masculine - even stereotypically so - in behavior, without the over-the-top lovey declarations or overly detailed emotional analysis. they don't have to be jocks or marines or whatnot, just believably manly ... basically, well written as guys. thanks!

Have you tried "Screw You, We're From Texas"? http://makeit-takeit.livejournal.com/7249.html I think it's totally believable, J2 being guys. It's an AU coming out, coming together story.

Standing on the Edge of Nothing (http://tryfanstone.co.uk/standing.htm) by Jay Tryfanstone: this one's Sam/Dean, but it's really good. This author is a good one to check out for the sort of thing you're looking for (on AO3, too)

I hope some of these work for you. I don't mind the schmoop, and I don't always remember to tag it, but these are some of the ones I remember as being less overtly emotional. I know you asked for J2 (and that I put a couple Sam/Dean ones in there anyway, sorry), but if you're up for Sam/Dean, I can give you more of that, too.

yay, sooooo many!! and a few I haven't read (I agree - Tryfanstone is rock solid) And I'm definitely open to good Sam/Dean in this vein too.
