Lengthy Destiel Fics  
Hello Everyone,

So I'm a fast reader, and a very picky reader at that so I tend to go through story as fast as it takes someone to breath (clearly an exaggeration), anyhow I really want to read some lengthy and well written Destiel (A short fic for me has around 10K to 15k words). Please warn me if it's a bottom/sub Dean I'm not fond of it but this will not stop me from reading a great story. I don't read gender swaps unless it's temporarily, no prostitute/stripper Dean, and absolutely no pregnant Dean (pregnant Cas fics are very much encouraged).

I don't like to permanently hurt Dean, Sam or Cas so no blind, or deaf fics. Fics where any one of them are mute is surprisingly fine with me. I honestly don't care who Sam ends up with, although I have some favorite (Sabriel, Sam/Ruby Sam/Jess, Sam/Sarah). Two characters I can never get enough of are Gabriel and Lucifer. I love them both, especially when Lucifer is not completely evil. Please tell me if angst because those I read when I'm in a certain mood and I LOVE humor fics, emphasis on the love.

I just notice how demanding I am. Thank you some much for helping me out.

Edited: Self recs are okay and just wanted to say I absolutely love Charlie, so anything that has her in it I'm going to love.

I keep a fic rec exactly for this purpose - only well-written fics. 95% of them are long.

I never keep track of who tops and bottoms, but you can usually tell by a good summary. I'm a slut for angst, so most will be angsty. And like you, I don't read mpreg or genderswap, so you won't find that there.

Have you read My Empire of Dirt (http://archiveofourown.org/works/1831612/chapters/3934216) and sequel, I Will Make You Hurt (http://archiveofourown.org/works/2029809/chapters/4403619), by cucoo4cas? It's an AU with Destiel and Sabriel (can't remember who's on top/bottom, sorry). High levels of angst, but great story, and both stories together are I think about 150,000 words. Lucifer is dark, but is fully fleshed-out character in his own right. (Read the warnings on this one)

oooh, you just perfectly described Brightly_lit's novel-length Destiel series! Some of my absolutel favorite slash ever. It's wonderfully plotty, romantic and in-character. There IS some serious angst, but also some humor, and a great deal of deep characterization. There is a touch of bottom!dean in one of the later fics, but mostly there's not much of a top/bottom dynamic (the sex in the fics is not graphic) and where there is, it's slanted toward top! Dean. Each fic is longish, none are under 12,000 words, for sure, and each is written to stand on its own, but they work wonderfully as a series. You probably already know about these especially if you're really into destiel stories, but since I don't see it already listed below I'll go ahead and rec it just in case.

Unexpected Destinies (http://otp-destiel.livejournal.com/571.html)by Otp_destiel has currently 202 chapters and isn't done yet and is in my humble opinion THE long destiel fic that everyone should at least try. It's not exactly bottom! dean but he and cas do take turns so there is some of that in there.

Summary: In which, Gabriel meddles with the time line and Castiel becomes Dean's angel rather sooner than intended. (basically, dean meets cas when he's a kid, and they grow up together. it's adorable)

After the final Seal is broken, Dean discovers that he's actually Lucifer. He's not really sure how he feels about that. The forces of Heaven and Hell aren't exactly making things easier. (this one is pretty hilarious, but there's a bit of angst at the end)

Summary: What if Dean had killed when he was a vampire and couldn't be turned back into a human? This is an AU season 6 from that perspective. (slightly angsty, but not overly so. Also, I think it's bottom!dean, but it's pretty good regardless)
