Shelter in Place (http://foolsdance.livejournal.com/22487.html) is a great zombie J2 apocafic by foolsdance. There are some past elements of slavery and noncon, though, so heed the warnings.

Does it have to be Zombies? Because I don't know many zombie-fics, but I know a post-apocalyptic fic

was there kind of a enclosed encampment, and each of the adults were given a child to watch. Jared finally shows up and he thinks Jensen is straight, maybe with a lady who is at the camp, maybe thinks the kid is Jensen's?

I believe this is #2...

When the World Ends

Fading Silhouettes (http://indysaur.livejournal.com/29672.html) is my all time favorite J2 non-AU apoca-zombie. Katie Cassidy is in it and she is BAMF. Jared and Jensen start off as having been together previously but were broken up before the apocalypse began. They are on this journey from Vancouver to San Antonio by way of Los Angeles (I think) to find out if Jared's family survived. The whole fic is gorgeous, one of the best ever written.

And, coincidentally, I wouldn't have even thought of doing a self-rec, so thank you leave_the_dark for mentioning "Three Nights at the Winchester". I didn't even know people still read that. That was the first J2 I wrote.

Now, I have to go read some of these zombie fics I haven't read before or haven't in a while.
