Trying to pull Sam out of his new world instead draws Dean into it. Powers, drugs, and districts of San Francisco vary by story. This whole series is epic, amazing and SERIOUSLY well worth reading.

* Safiyabat's Disintegration (http://archiveofourown.org/series/61120)series: The deterioration of the family ties within the Winchester family between Sam's departure for Stanford and the series pilot. An attempt is made to explore the lives of all three Winchesters, exploring the reasons for the changes that take place in familial relationships over this three and a half year period. Not kind at all to John, and Dean is presented as John's good soldier. But well worth the read for the awesome, if broken Sam.

BAMF Sam:
* Jassy's Regrets Trilogy (http://samdean.archive.nu/series.php?seriesid=95): Sam changes the timeline to save his brother from his deal. This makes some things better, some things worse, and some things heartbreaking. Sam is amazingly BAMF in this. So, weirdly enough, is Ash.
